Request Proposals for Cranes/Hoists

  2. Please note if this project is imminent or you just need budgetary pricing for planning purposes.
  3. Capacity, in tons, of:
    • Main Hoist, or each trolley if a two-trolley overhead crane.
    • Auxiliary hoist if required (please note if mounted on separate or common trolley).
  4. If Overhead Crane runway is in-place or pre-designed:
    • Span of runway rails (center to center, please).
    • Size of railroad rail on runway (if top running) in pounds per yard.
    • Distance from top of runway rails to lowest ceiling-mounted interference (IE, ducts, lights, piping)
    • Distance from center of runway rails to nearest obstruction ends of crane must clear.
    • Height of hook needed above ground or floor.
    • Height of any floor-mounted obstruction overhead the underside of crane bridge must clear.
    • Depth of pit, if used.
  5. If Overhead Crane runway has not been designed:
    • Distance between building walls or columns so that span may be determined.
    • Distance from floor to ceiling or lowest ceiling-hung interference crane must clear.
    • Height of any floor-mounted machinery or interference overhead crane must clear.
    • Height of hook lift above floor or ground.
    • Depth of pit, if used.
  6. Power Supply - Note voltage, phases, AC or DC. (typically 460/3/60 AC)
  7. Operator controls, electrical controls.
    • Radio Control desired?
    • Cab needed?
    • Pendent Delete?
    • Inverter/VFD on hoist motion (standard on most crane bridge/trolley)
    • Note if any motions (bridge/trolley/hoist are not to be powered.
  8. Note Indoor or Outdoor use.
  9. Note speeds desired.
  10. Note Duty Cycle (if CMAA class unknown, provide answers 2-5)
    • Use CMAA class "A" through "E" duty.
    • Shifts used per day?
    • Picks per hour?
    • How many picks are at or near capacity?
    • How many picks are above 50% capacity?
  11. What work is to be performed?
  12. Please note any special considerations.
    • Class and division of explosion proof requirements.
    • Special Controls, IE NEMA 4X
    • Paint
    • Poor access during installation.
